LATEST NEWS
What makes us tick?
From our base in Indonesia to the outback of Mongolia we trek tirelessly through snake infested swamps, climb icy mountain peaks and cook our food in the craters of volcanoes. Nothing will stop us from hunting out the magical pieces of history we bring to you - every piece of furniture or accessory is different and every one has its own story.

We do actually travel all over Greater Asia - going directly to the sources of our products and negotiating prices - cigarettes and a bottle of hooch are a very useful currency!

How do we do it?
We have been living in Asia for 10 years and dealing with Asia in furniture and accessories for another 10.

In all sincerity our experience out here has made us very good in sourcing what we want and having the cultural and language abilities to get the right price for the right product. We also know the customs of the people, we respect these and if it means meeting an entire family and their extended family, or sitting down to eat something so gross - we do, and it usually is very interesting.

We respect the people and they in return respect us. It is very important to understand the ways of Asian business in order to succeed, and, knowing the region and business practices so well, we can cut out the middleman, as, for example in India we would start all the top of the Ganges River dealing with the source, not half way down, struggling to bathe in the muddy waters!

We purchase goods that are in a variety of conditions and have our own workshops and specialist restorers throughout the region, bringing items back to their former glory. We are very careful not to OVER restore. We buy furniture that is in need of a little love and attention, admittedly, but we use the same techniques to restore by hand that have been passed down for generations, so you really are buying an exquisite piece, that people have taken pride and care in preserving their history for you to enjoy.

With that, we would like you to browse our website to find items you would like, or items that we don't have, but may be able to find for you. Like history, we are workers in time.

We have help!
Now is the chance to 'meet the fleet'

First of all, the backbone of our efforts, our two trusty Volkswagens, both split screen Kombis from the mid sixties, with many thousands of miles under their belts, but they soldier on regardless. It is always a surprise to the villagers as to how much we can carry in or on them!

But even the Volkswagens cannot get everywhere, and for the really rough stuff, meet our two Toyota Land Cruisers. These are mere youngsters from the late seventies, and good for another thirty years!

The final member of our fleet, although to be fair, it does not carry very much nowadays, is our 1944 Willys Jeep, but it has got a very good winch on the front, to help if the others get stuck, and it gets jealous if it is not mentioned!

What about the people?

Well, I am Karen and that's me in the 'becak', an ideal vehicle for going round our local city, as it does not take any notice of traffic regulations! (Mind you, neither does anybody else, but that is another story). Together with my husband, we have lived out in the midst of Asia for the last ten years, and travelled here extensively for many, many years before that. We also have a local team here in Indonesia to assist and a further team in China, with our very own workshops and storage facilities.
